NIH Health Disparities Seminar Series
To commemorate Native American Heritage month, the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) invites you to attend the next NIH Health Disparities Seminar Series on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. The theme will be American Indian/Alaska Native Health Disparities. The guest speaker will be Dr. Victoria Warren-Mears, Director of the Northwest Tribal Epidemiology Center which is part of the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board and one of 12 Indian Health Service sponsored Tribal Epidemiology Centers. Dr. Warren-Mears has extensive experience in local public health systems and service delivery in the Northwest. She also has experience in conducting population based research and programmatic implementation.

The National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), in partnership with the NIH Office of Intramural Research (OIR), presents “An Afternoon with Maya Angelou.”
A world renowned poet, author, actress, playwright and historian, Dr. Angelou will be the featured speaker for the NIH J. Edward Rall Cultural Lecture, as a part of the NIH Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series, on September 23, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. The lecture will take place in Masur Auditorium, located in Building 10 on the NIH campus.
